The organisers of Bestival are celebrating after scooping a top award.
The music festival, which attracts thousands of people to Isle, won best major festival at Monday’s (November 3rd) Festival Awards.
According to iwcp.co.uk, organiser Rob da Bank was unable to collect the award himself due to illness; however he wrote on Twitter: “A 1000 thanks to all who voted for @bestival to win Major UK festi. We did it! Sadly I was lying ill but yes!”
Also posted on Bestival’s official account was the message: “Wowsers! We’ve won Best Major Festival at the @Festival_Awards big big thanks to all who voted for us 🙂 x”
Bestival 2012, which took place at the Island’s Robin Hill family leisure park, featured acts such as Florence & the Machine, New Order, Stevie Wonder and The XX. Other winners at the awards included Bloodstock Open Air Festival (which won ‘Best Medium-Sized Festival’), Y Not Festival, which took home ‘Best Small Festival’ and Festival No.6 in North Wales, which triumphed as ‘Best New Festival’.
