Hot UK act Florence and the Machine will headline Bestival’s Friday night slot, organisers have announced.
The addition of the indie pop troupe to the boutique music festival completes the full line-up for the September 6-9 bash at Robin Hill Country Park – one of the last UK festivals of the season.
Other top-billing acts include electronic rock pioneers New Order; formed from the ashes of Joy Division, and legendary soul artist Stevie Wonder, who will bring the event to a spectacular close on Sunday night, reports portsmouth.co.uk.
Speaking to mirror.co.uk of Florence’s selection, Bestival organiser Rob da Bank revealed: “The first time I met Flo she was whirling around like a spinning-top to a Paul Simon track at a party I was DJ-ing at. I hadn’t even heard her open her mouth, but she had this alluring vibe already.
“Her shows for us at both Bestival and Camp Bestival have been highlights for many and I’m glad we can finally seal the deal with a headline show on the Friday.”
Patrons of Isle of Wight hotels and on-site campers will also be treated to the sounds of awarding-winning band The XX, Friendly Fires, Emeli Sand
