The Isle of Wight has been included in a list of top ten best UK islands.
The area ranked ninth in the ‘2013 Travellers’ Choice Island Awards’ top ten, which was collaborated from the feedback of TripAdvisor travellers.
Talking about the placing, David Thornton, CEO of tourist organisation Visit Isle of Wight, said was thrilled and thanked all the people who had been on Isle of Wight breaks.
He told iwradio.co.uk: “We’re delighted the Isle of Wight, the UK’s holiday island, has been recognised among the UK’s top 10 in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Island Awards.”
Mr Thornton continued: “We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the visitors who have come and enjoyed the Island and helped to make this win possible.”
Also included in the ‘2013 Travellers’ Choice Island Awards’ top ten was Jersey, the Isle of Man, Anglesey and Guernsey.
There was also a strong Scottish presence in the top ten, with it making up half the list. The Scottish Orkney Islands also took the top spot in the awards.
Mr Thornton claimed that the Isle of Wight is set for a “mammoth” 2013, with events scheduled including Cowes Week from 15-19th July and the Ventnor Fringe Festival, taking place in August.
