LANDOWNERS FIGHTING TO KEEP ISLE OF WIGHT COAST SEPARATE FROM NEW PATH

An organisation of Isle of Wight landowners are campaigning to keep the region’s coastline separate from a new path – claiming it to be good enough as it is.

In response to a recent consultation on coastal access from the Department of Food and Rural Affairs, the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) claimed the region’s coastline would suffer from an unnatural link up with other areas.

The organisation said there is a better way of doing improvements than through a slow and expensive standardisation process, which would see the path included on a new walking trail for the island.

The region’s very own Ramblers’ Association has long voiced its support for a more complete route for local walkers and people taking Isle of Wight holidays, believing that a longer path could contribute
