New website for Isle of Wight council

The Isle of Wight Council is set to launch a new website this week.

The site will keep the same address of iwight.com, however it has been given an updated look. Users of the website, which could include residents as well as those on Isle of Wight breaks, should also be able to navigate around the site easier too due to its updated design.

A review of the site was carried out last year to see what changes it was need, with the changes also being implemented over the last 12 months.

Talking about the new design, Richard Williams, head of ICT at the Isle of Wight Council told iwmail.co.uk: “More and more people and businesses engage with the council online and it is important the council has a new website that meets demand and is adaptable.

He continued: “Feedback showed that people sometimes had difficulties finding the information they were after. The refresh seeks to give more prominence and easier access to the services and information that people use by stripping out superfluous and outdated material that they do not need.

The new changes also came as the site was given only a one out of four rating by ICT professionals association Socitim at the end of last month, according to onthewight.com.
