Tourist board VisitEngland hopes to inspire UK residents to take more holidays at home with a new Facebook campaign, reports corpcommsmagazine.co.uk.
The new Facebook app is entitled ‘101 Things To Do Before You Go Abroad’ and is said to include the best experiences in the UK. This could include a city break in the capital, a relaxing trip to the countryside, or even one of the many Isle of Wight breaks on offer.
It is hoped that the app will build on the success of this summer’s London 2012 Olympics. Research conducted by the organisation found that 60 per cent of the population say that the Games have made them feel more proud to be British.
Twenty per cent of those questioned also said that they were more likely to take a break in the UK now, due to the “feel good factor” of the Olympics.
The app will also inform UK residents about the different attractions that are on offer in the countryside, after the data showed Britons aren’t totally sure where to go.
Commenting on the app, James Berresford, VisitEngland chief executive, told breakingtravelnews.com: “There is so much on offer in England which is capable of taking our breath away. We hope this app will inspire Britons everywhere to take a holiday in England, and remember that this is one of the best, if not the best destination in the world.”
